2008 - 39th Annual EC4WDA Convention
November 14-16, 2008

The theme for the 2008 EC4WDA 39th annual convention is 'Mardi Gras'

"Mardi Gras" (French for Fat Tuesday) is the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is the final day of the Carnival celebration. Table decorations and costumes can draw on any of the myriad worldwide iterations of this most festive of festivals.

Carrie Swain, our community projects chairperson, has made arrangements for us to have fun again this year. We are going to get in the holiday spirit with a 'Toys For Tots' drive. A lot of our clubs really get involved in this in their communities, so let's see what we can do on an association level.

Everyone bring a couple of toys for the girls and boys! The kids will get a kick out of helping for this one too. The toys don't have to be expensive, and don't wrap them! They have to be unwrapped so the parents who come to pick them out for their kids can see them.

There is a 'Toys For Tots' pick up station manned by the Marines in Clearfield, PA. On Sunday sometime during the day the gifts will be picked up by a Marine representative who will take them to the pickup station.

Bring your toys to the meeting on Saturday and Sunday. Carrie will help you put them in a safe place in the meeting room. We will feel a lot better about our gifts at Christmas-time for this one!

Hospitality Room

Region C will host our entertainment after the awards banquet and will be in charge of the hospitality room for the weekend.

Your hospitality room will be located in rooms 103 & 104, right across the hall from each other.

Of course, all of the clubs and individuals are responsible for lending a hand and keeping the festive table well stocked. So this year let's think 'If I wanna munch, gotta bring a bunch of good stuff.'

Door Prizes

Don't forget to bring your door prizes! We all like to win them so ask the club to get behind the effort. Bring them to the room when you come to the banquet. Region C will make their plan to sell tickets to win them. As history goes, it is usually held in conjunction with the split the pot, but they may have a different plan this year.

Decorate Your Tables and Wear Costumes for Awards

'Mardi Gras - This theme will give you all a bunch of great ideas for table decorations and costumes. Have a Blast!

Awards will be offered for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, Best Theme Table Decoration and Best Costume, 1st, 2nd, 3rd places for adults and children. Nine awards in all, so put those thinking caps on and do your magic. You will be able to decorate your tables in the 'Plaza Parlor Terrace', same place where the meetings are held, from 5:30 until 6:45.
